Selvaraghavan is sad

After a break, Selvaraghavan is back to do a film, and it will have STR in the lead. "Time has come to make a good movie," says the director of 'Kadhal Konden' and 'Aayirathil Oruvan'.

At the same time, Selvaraghavan is not happy with the current scenario in Kollywood. "Story has been thrown out of Tamil cinema. It has taken a totally different route. There is no stuff in films."

Selva says he was cheated by many during the making of 'Irandaam Ulagam'. "Promises were not kept, deadline was not met and I was not given the much needed freedom. I realised that it was a mistake to do such a film."

Studio Green in Bollywood with 'Mankatha'?

After establishing itself firm in Kollywood, it seems K E Gnanavelraja's Studio Green is now setting its eyes on Bollywood. If sources are to be believed, the production firm will start its maiden Hindi venture soon.

And it is said to be a remake of Ajith's 50th film, the blockbuster 'Mankatha' directed by Venkat Prabhu. A leading director is expected to wield the megaphone, while a fresh cast would also be in store.

Meanwhile in Kollywood, Studio Green is busy with a string of projects, including Mani Ratnam's 'OK Kanmani, 'Suriya's 'Masss', Karthi's 'Komban' and Sivakarthikeyan starrer 'Rajini Murugan'.

Nayanthara's love interest

Popular Telugu actor-director J D Chakravarthy (who was seen in 'Kacheri Aarambam' and 'Samar') is said to be playing Nayanthara's love interest in Malayalam movie 'Bhaskar the Rascal'.

"But it is a negative role and Mammootty is playing the protagonist in the movie directed by Siddique. Isha Talwar of 'Thillu Mullu' fame is also there in this film," sources said.

Interestingly, Chakravarthy and Nayanthara had earlier acted together in a Telugu film  titled 'Dubai Seenu' (2007). "Though Chakravarthy was initially uncomfortable on the sets of 'Bhaskar the Rascal' since he did not know Malayalam, the team made him feel at home soon," added sources.

What is Uttama Villain for Ramesh Arvind?

Uttama Villain audio launch was a star studded event. Kamal ensured the event was not in the usual format and spiced it up with many interesting elements. What less can we expect from a movie with Kamal, Nasser, Urvashi, Jayaram, Andreah, Parvathi, Pooja Kumar, director K Viswanath and late K Balachander? To see the list is itself so maginificent, how was it to shape it up as a movie for the director? He calls Uttama villain as UV, the movie. Read below to know what is Uttama Villain for Ramesh Arvind.
"I feel I have directed 2 films in one film. On one hand there's a 21st century tale of a reigning superstar, on other hand is a 8th century tale of a folk artist. One is a social drama about human relationships, other is a musical comedy in folk pattern. What connects the 2 threads is the common theme of both sectors - a universal truth about life ."
"Beyond the words on page, every good script has a soul . It's the director's job to understand that soul and bring it on screen in best way possible using all the talents of his team"
"The director is the first viewer of the film..He has to decide if the shot taken is the right one which deserves to be seen by the audience or a better take is needed"
"It was a huge responsibility. In a single shot there would be K.Balachander with 100 movies to his credit, K.Viswanath with 80 films under his belt, Urvasi with 500, Jayram with 400, Nasser with 300 and Kamal hassan with 200. So a single frame in Uttamvillain has 1500 films' experience behind it.! To direct such an army of talent was an honour and privilege."
"Kamalhassan is a director's delight. His belief in my abilities is heartening." I have admired Lingusamy as a director in films like 'Run'. Now I admire him as a producer too for allowing us the creative space to make the film exactly as we started out to." "My special thanks to Tamil and Kannada film industry for making me what I am."
"Gibran's music will be a cinematic experience of a new kind when you watch it with visuals of the film.Lyrics by SubbuArumugam, Viveka and Kamal hassan will be a treat for lovers of the language Tamil."
"We miss KB sir on this day.The first film of both Kamal Hassan and I were with him as the director and his last film was with us and me directing for first time in Tamil. It is strange how life works! The greatest tribute we can pay to KB sir is to make wonderful films like he did, to love cinema like he did, to nurture talent like he did. He is frozen in celluloid for ever talking ,walking and crying in UttamaVillain."
"I owe a ton of thanks to my extraordinary cast members and efficient technical crew. UttamaVillain is a film I will be proud of , lifelong."

Suriya - second look of Masss and a fresh look for Haiku

The busy bee Suriya is now a producer too and the actor is working round the clock for his movies. Masss, 24, Haiku and the comeback movie of Jyothika is all lined up one after the other. Masss, directed by Venkat Prabhu is a supernatural thriller and the second look poster of the movie has been released, further increasing the expectations.
The first poster was dark and Suriya was posing with a slight evil grin. The second poster is very colourful with a yellow shade and the trademark smile from Suriya. Suriya's glasses show the Indian rupee symbol and the pink hook stud on his left ear is also noticed and appreciated by fans.
While we are busy admiring Masss poster, the actor is busy shooting for Pandiraj's Haiku, which he is also producing under his home banner 2D Entertainment.
Suriya was spotted shooting in the beach with kids in the early morning couple of days ago. He will also start shooting for 24 shortly. Keep rocking Suirya.

G V Prakash is love-struck

G V Prakash Kumar has spilled some beans on his character in 'Trisha Illana Nayanthara', his upcoming film being directed by newcomer Adhik.

"I am playing a love-struck youngster and audience can easily relate my character with themselves. Adhik is an interesting narrator and he is shaping up the film in a beautiful way," GVP says.

Anandhi of 'Kayal' fame plays the heroine of 'Trisha Illana Nayanthara'. Meanwhile, GVP's 'Pencil' is getting ready to hit the screens. In the movie, both Prakash and Sri Divya have played school students.

Anjali not ready for 'Appa Takaru'

Director Suraj, who is directing Jayam Ravi, Trisha and Anjali for 'Appa Takaru', says the 'Angadi Theru' actress was initially not ready to accept the offer.

"When I contacted her, she said she was in no mood to act in films. But when she heard the story, she was mightily impressed and readily came forward to be part of the movie," the filmmaker says.

Suraj says 'Appa Takaru' will be a mix of comedy, romance, sentiments and thrill. "Jayam Ravi and Suri will bring the roofs down. While Trisha plays a modern girl, Anjali plays a rural belle," he says.
