Thala hits a steady Half Century

When Ajith hits a century or half century, it is usually with a lot of fireworks as witnessed in ‘Mankatha’ and ‘Veeram’ but the Gautham Vasudev Menon directed ‘Yennai Arindhaal’  has completed 50days on a steady run.

Thala has proved that he can be daringly different as he has broken the mass hero rules big time in ‘Yennai Arindhaal’ like giving the villain equal footage, falling in love with the mother of a child and continuing to be the stepfather to the child after the mother’s death.  This has never been attempted by any other actor who enjoys the following that Ajith has and this success only re-asserts the fact that Thala is in his own league.

Andrea faces Acid Test

She has sexy written all over her, is a great singer and has a wonderful screen presence as well . Though  She gets to work with the best technicians in the  most prestigious projects, one noticeable fact is that all of Andrea’s films in Tamil had  other actresses steal the limelight from her.  In her debut in GVM's t ‘Pachaikili Muthucharam’ she was the heroine, but the villain Jyothika overshadowed her.  She met with similar fate at the hands of Reema Sen in ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’, Pooja Kumar in ‘Vishwaroopam’ and Hansika in ‘Aranmanai’. Forthcoming films like ‘Uttama Villain’, ‘Idhu Namma Aalu’ and ‘Vishwaroopam 2’ all have other heroines giving Andrea stiff completion.

Friday the 27th of March is an acid test in the true sense of the word for Andrea as  ‘Valiyavan’ releases.  This is the first film that has Andrea as the solo heroine playing opposite Jai. Andrea can take heart from the fact that director M. Saravanan’s two previous films ‘Engeyum Eppodhum’ and ‘Ivan Veru Mathiri’ have both been critical and commercial successes.

Kamal questions distributors' ethics

Well, it was all started with Rajinikanth’s ‘Baba’ where the Superstar himself had called the distributors to his home and compensated for its loss. But, what happened with ‘Lingaa’ was unfortunate as Rajinikanth got nothing to do with the distribution and production side. Still, the reports say that he returned a whopping amount to put a full stop to the controversy.

Earlier today, Kamal had invited the press to discuss about his immediate release, ‘Uttama Villain’ and he termed asking the money back to the producers’ are unethical and questioned what would the distributors do if the audience demand their money back while half way through a movie?

Kamal is known to initiate good debates with his practical questions and may this be a good start to put an end to the producer – distributor row.
